Healthy, Fit & Fun FREE Fitness Classes

Healthy, Fit & Fun promotes exercise and good health in a fun group setting. People of all ages and abilities are encouraged to come get fit and make new friends while enjoying the beauty of the Esplanade. The Esplanade Association partners with organizations around Boston to offer a diverse array of professionally-led outdoor fitness classes. All classes are FREE and open to the public. Any individual should feel welcome and encouraged to participate! Pre-registration is strongly encouraged in order to participate.

Classes are hosted in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).

Healthy, Fit & Fun 2018 Schedule


Tuesdays, July 10 – September 4| 6:00 pm | DCR’s Hatch Shell

Fusing Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves, nothing is more fun and calorie burning than a high-energy Zumba workout. Routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms are combined with resistance training. Come showcase your dance moves and break a sweat on the Esplanade!

Sunset Yoga

Wednesdays, July 11 – September 5 | 6:00 pm | Fiedler Field (Arthur Fiedler Memorial Head)

Whether you’re a beginner or expert, our yoga program allows you to challenge your mind and body while enjoying beautiful river views. Increase your flexibility and muscle tone while achieving calmness, stress reduction, and overall body awareness. Namaste!

The first class on Wednesday, July 11 will feature a complimentary snack-sized salad from sweetgreen!**

*Please note: Yoga mats will not be available at class. Participants wishing to use mats should bring their own.

Thursdays, July 12 – September 6 | 6:00 pm | Fiedler Field (Arthur Fiedler Memorial Head)

Fit Body Boot Camp’s specialized Afterburn workouts use a combination of (HIIT) High-Intensity Interval Training and Active Rest Training to get your body to burn more fat and calories than traditional workouts. Every group training session is led by an experienced and certified personal trainer and is designed to be fun, high energy and challenging all while burning maximum fat and toning your muscles.

The Esplanade was recently voted the best running route in Boston, thanks to Boston Magazine! Join one of the following run clubs that routinely run the Esplanade:

Marathon Sports Run Club

Wednesdays | 6:30 pm | Marathon Sports (671 Boylston Street)

Whether you hit the pavement every day or you’re just getting started, runners of all ages and levels are invited to meet at Marathon Sports every Wednesday for the Marathon Sports Run Club. Runners have the option to choose between a 3, 5, or 8-mile route along the Esplanade and Charles River pathways.

Dashing Whippets Run Club

Saturdays | 8:00am | Meet at Boston Common (Visit to learn the most up-to-date meeting locations)

The Dashing Whippets usually have routes ranging from 8-20 miles depending on what people want to do that week. Paces / pace groups typically range from 7 – 9-minute miles (though they welcome all paces). During the winter and early spring we meet at the Adidas Boston Marathon RunBase on Boylston Street. Otherwise, you can find us at the Boston Common (corner of Park Street and Tremont Street, just outside the Park Street T Stop)
