Join us for the Esplanade Community Cleanup Day!

In 2017, 418 individuals joined us on the Esplanade, making a significant difference by cleaning up 210 bags of trash and debris in the Park, as part of the annual Charles River Cleanup.  One of the nation’s largest one-day river cleanup events, the Charles River Cleanup brings together volunteers from around Massachusetts to remove litter and debris from the Charles River and its surrounding parklands!

The Earth Day Charles River Cleanup is organized by: Charles River Watershed Association, Esplanade Association, Department of Conservation and Recreation, Charles River Conservancy, Emerald Necklace Conservancy, Green Decade Newton, Senator Will Brownsberger’s Office, and Waltham.

The 2018 cleanup is scheduled for April 28, 2018. All registration is done through the Charles River Watershed Association. Sign up to join us on the Esplanade!

Please contact Micah Jasny ( or 617-227-0365; Ext. 407) if you’d like to set up a separate volunteer event for some time this year.
